Childrens Services

At Desert Survivors, we believe children learn best in natural environments with their peers and their families. We honor the diversity of our community and the families within it. Desert Survivors Children's Services are divided into two components: Services for children (birth-3) with or at risk for developmental delays, available in English and Spanish, across Pima County, including the Tohono O'Odham Nation.

  • Early intervention - support, assessment, information and advocacy in the family's home or other natural environment, i.e. child care center or Grandma's house
  • Support coordination - assisting families to identify their resources and find other resources to meet the unique needs of their child and family
  • Staff-to-child ratio of 1 to 3
  • Ongoing assessment and progress reports for all children enrolled, plus a monthly newsletter
  • Individualized care to children with special needs
  • Quarterly meetings and an open door policy

Adult Services

Desert Survivors' adult vocational program is designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. Approximately 90% of our plant nursery employees are disabled adults. Employees in our day work program are provided with support to help them develop and apply their best abilities. One branch of this program is a landscape crew that maintains residential yards or commercial grounds out in the community through contract jobs.

Our adult vocational program has been successful in providing meaningful, productive work for our employees and a quality product for the public. Please contact us for more information.
